Application Process

Education Grant and Loan Application Procedures

  1. Obtain a copy of CYM’s  “Grant or Loan Application”  form from your Monthly Meeting, the CYM Office, or click here  to open and print it now. (If you can’t open that form, try this one – Education Grant and Loan Application Form – HMAC – PDF)
  2. Documentation must be complete before review can take place.
  3. Applications will be reviewed at the next HMAC meeting. HMAC meets in spring and fall. Applications should be submitted well in advance.
  4. Applications are considered on the following criteria:
    1. individual merit
    2. how the experience will enrich the life of the applicant, their Monthly Meeting and the Society of Friends
    3. past loan repayment performance
    4. relevance in relation to the applicant’s current or potential economic circumstances
  5. An individual who has already received a grant or loan from the Quaker Studies Fund will not be eligible for a further award for a minimum of three years. An individual may be a recipient of the Pendle Hill Scholarship only once.
  6. Loan repayment schedules are based on the information provided in the application, and are tailored to the recipient’s situation. We request that loans be repaid within three years.
  7. Grant recipients will be issued a T4 slip at year end.
  8. Friends receiving grants/loans from HMAC are expected to submit a report of their education experience, with possible publication in The Canadian Friend, or sharing through another medium (blog, workshop, video).
  9. The Application Form should be used for application to any fund described on these web pages.
