Quaker Education Program

This is part of an evolving web presence for the Education Program of Canadian Quakers (Canadian Yearly Meeting, Religious Society of Friends).  Over time, Friends will have access here to a variety of resources.  The first of these are blogs from Western Half Yearly Meeting and Pelham Half Yearly Meeting, fall 2011. These pages are maintained by Sue Starr, the Quaker Education Program Coordinator.  You can reach Sue by e-mail at cymqepc@quaker.ca.

Sue
I was delighted to find your blog through the link from your Quakers in Canada -Learning Facebook page.
However when I tried to find a link on quaker .ca >committees>hmac, there was no link to the blog.
But I have bookmarked it and will share with others. We are also trying to get a link for Katrina’s blog at young.quaker.ca
I loved reading about WHYM and Pelham and we are looking forward to having Yonge St and Pelham together in the spring and having you there too.

Hi Virginia – I’ve just added a link to Katrina’s blog on the right hand side of the page. As I e-mailed you, the Quaker Education link on the main page is the second item on the menu listings under the ‘What’s New?’ header. I agree it would be preferable to have it on the far left…in time, I guess.

Hello Sue,

browsing through the Quaker education program website with curiosity and interest, I came across the Equipping for Ministry program at Woodbrooke. Is there a similar or equivalent program offered in Canada/North America? What can you recommend for somebody who would like to deepen learning about and understanding of the Quaker Way in the contemporary world?

Hi Othmar – thanks for asking. There are at least a couple of places in the US that offer a variety of learning experiences in Friends’ ways and other aspects of Quaker faith/practices. You can find links to these (as well as Woodbrooke) at http://www.quaker.ca/Committees/hmac/blog/education-grants-and-loans/quaker-study-centres . The best know of these in North America is Pendle Hill. You can do terms of study there. A couple of Friends I know have spend a year (or even two) there.
